For 25 years, I was a painter. My path to weaving was a beautiful and organic move. My painting started becoming very abstract, I began puncturing the surfaces and using drills and power sanders. I briefly moved over to ceramics but felt too dependent on facilities with kilns. I was at a crossroads. During a month-long residency for clay at Haystack, I fell in love with the fiber studio and I began to wonder ... I soon found my way to the Textile Art Center in NYC and took my first weaving class. I experienced an immediate connection. With the same vigor and philosophy I had when I began painting, I joined in on a multitude of textile classes and workshops to explore this new medium.
Fiber is exciting as I can create and offer both functional and conceptual pieces.
