Paula first came upon weaving many years ago as an undergraduate. She was fascinated by the idea that one could weave cloth to use for garment construction. But clay won the materials competition and she became a ceramicist instead. Then twelve years ago, during her tenure as a Fiber Arts instructor at the Austin Riggs center in Stockbridge, MA, Paula got serious about weaving. She dove into Marguerite Porter Davidson’s A Handweavers Pattern Book with the excitement of a child in a candy shop. All those weave structures to be explored made her giddy!

Today, Paula weaves with a combinations of quirky yarns on a variety of looms. She appreciates the unique contribution each gives to her weaving repertoire. Paula’s use of color and texture is designed to complement her chosen weave structures and allow her to create cloth that she can use in her tapestry style pillows, kitchen towels, scarves, and wearable pieces.

Paula’s studio is located on the third floor in a renovated industrial mill, the Arts & Industry building. There is an accessible ramp and a freight elevator will be available for those who need it.
