Emerging Weavers

We are very excited to welcome Eliza Bigelow as our emerging weaver to the 2026 Working Weavers Studio Trail. Eliza will be located at The Mill in Shelburne Falls, 49 Conway Street in Buckland, MA. (Stop 2 on the Trail Map)

Eliza Bigelow

Eliza Jean Bigelow is a 23-year old weaver from Colrain, MA. She graduated from Skidmore College with a BA in Studio Art (concentration in Fiber Arts) and Psychology this past spring. Eliza found her way to weaving around age 14 through Vävstuga’s Fiber Frolic program. Her interest is in functional textiles and promoting slow living through drawing appreciation for everyday textiles. During her time at Skidmore, she also studied abroad at Chelsea College of the University of the Arts London where she studied textile design and ecological and cyclical design.

In the post-grad world, Eliza is settling into her new home studio. She’s currently working on waffle-weave towels, as recently she’s been drawn to cell weave structures like waffle and honeycomb. In the coming year, she hopes to dig into some handwoven sewing projects like pillow covers and purses.

She primarily works with cotton and cottolin, though one of her most rewarding projects so far was a cashmere-mohair blanket that put the width of her loom to the test in 2025.

She is so honored to be joining the talented weavers on the trail this year!
