Tammy lived for a summer in the Telemark region of Norway in 2015 and was inspired by the amazing textile displays and demonstrations at the living history museums. Upon her return home, she learned to weave alongside seasoned weavers in the local weaver’s guild. Soon Tammy began weaving linen dishcloths, inspired by her travels. These dishcloths remain her most popular handwoven item.
From 2016 to 2024, Tammy graduated in the inaugural class of Vävstuga’s Väv Immersion Weaving Course. Her blog tammyweaves tells the story of sixteen weeks of intense weaving and living with seven other weavers at the Fiber of Life & Vävstuga School in Shelburne, Massachusetts. Tammy grew and donated both flax and flax seed as a part of the Rustbelt Fibershed and Michigan Fibershed Linen Projects. In 2021 Tammy’s Smålandsväv Scarf #3 was awarded The Michigan League of Handweavers First Place in Fashion Accessories along with the Handweavers Guild of America Award.
In 2024 Tammy moved her weaving studio from her home in Ann Arbor, Michigan to a former textile mill in Easthampton, Massachusetts. She is a member of the Pioneer Valley Weavers, Weavers of Western Mass, and the Fibershed of Western Mass. Tammy weaves heirloom textiles for you to enjoy daily on her two Glimåkra Looms. She is returning for her 2nd year as a part of the Working Weavers Studio Trail.
